8ft Ants Productions is a filmmaking collective and creative platform founded by director and producer Marcus E. Ako.

Marcus started as an actor in a touring comedy group while growing up in Nigeria in 1995 and continued in London after relocating with his family in 1996. After a few years on stage, including being part of the cast of Actors in the 2006 Old Vic New Voices 24-hour plays in Waterloo, London, Marcus moved into film and became a writer and director. In 2015, he set up 8ft Ants Productions – a collective of creatives dedicated to creating entertaining content in radio, fiction and graphic novels, as well as YouTube, shorts and feature films. In 2017, Marcus began hosting “Shoot The Breeze on Resonance 104.4FM” – a radio/podcast about films and TV – and in 2020, he started the YouTube channel “The Idiot on The Writer’s Block” where experts give him tips on how to write, publish and promote his novels.

Marcus is of mixed heritage, with his father being Nigerian and his mother being half-English and half-Italian.
